london marathon: every year since 2003

The healing tent has been providing free massage therapies for runners and their families at the post-marathon event since 2003, when we kicked off with over 50 volunteer therapists offering treatments to revive the weary muscles of over 1600 people running for cancer research UK and 100 people running for the motor neuron disease association. It was a fantastic success - with runners remarking on how quickly they recovered after the event. Family and friends were also treated to indian head massage while they waited for their loved ones to cross the finish line.

We've been back ever since and were delighted to be able to lend our support to motor neurone disease association at the london marathon once again this year! We had an overwhelming response from volunteers with nearly 50 applications to take part. Our great thanks to you all! We only regret we couldn't accommodate all of you. The runners, their family and friends all really appreciated the rub-down to help them on the road to recovery. We're happy to be able to continue support such a worthwhile cause.
london 10km run 2003 & 2004 & 2005!

For the last three years, we have hosted the healing tent for over 400 runners raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign at the London 10km Run and we're set to return! The only UK charity focusing on all muscular dystrophies and allied disorders, it has pioneered the search for treatments and cures for over 40 years and provides practical, medical and emotional support to people affected by the condition. Both events were a great success with our therapists rubbing down all those who wanted a massage after their run. We'll be back again to help ease the muscular aches & pains and get the runners on the road to recovery.
thrive: battersea & hackney garden projects
The Healing Tent has been privileged to supply therapists for Thrive's & Help the Aged's Battersea Garden Project Annual Event for the last three years and is now working with Thrive in other areas as well. Thrive enables disadvantaged, disabled, young and older people to participate fully in the life of the community through gardening thus helping them regain confidence and maintain independence. Many of the people treated at this event do not have the opportunity to experience massage very often. It is fantastic to hear them express their enjoyment and how much they're looking forward to the next event already.

crusaid walk for life 2002 & 2003
Crusaid is the largest UK charity supporting people affected by HIV and AIDS. Walk for life is Crusaid’s biggest fundraising event each year with over 3500 walkers. This sponsored 10km stroll around London is followed by a brilliant after walk party where we hosted a healing tent in 2002 and 2003. To soothe their weary muscles, about 50 therapists treated the walkers to holistic massage, bowen technique, thai massage, reflexology, reiki, indian head massage and on-site massage to name a few! In a survey after the 2002 walk, the healing tent was voted the most popular part of the whole day and those who received therapies at both events were very happy indeed! Therapists were also able to enjoy the after-party entertainment and told us how much they enjoyed this event as well!
