Motor Neurone Disease Association
"As each year goes by of working together, I appreciate more and more all that you are, and all that you do for us. As an organization, you are totally professional, skilled, reliable and hold a ‘high bar’ as far as customer service and satisfaction is concerned. As individuals…I count you as friends. To know that ‘you’ are in charge, and looking after our runners welfare is a huge relief, and an absolute blessing to this fundraiser."
Elaine Wyspianski, Senior Community and Events Fundraiser
Peabody Trust
"Out of all the many and varied activities that the Playstlyz network were involved in last year the events carried out by The Healing Tent Healthy Living Bus received the most positive feedback. It was also clear that all sections of the community including babies, children, parents, carers and the elderly were able to enjoy and benefit from the events. Also mentioned were the variety and quality of the different activities, information and sheer fun of participating. The professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills of members of your team, including yourself of course (Peter Dixon, Managing Director) helped deliver what is a most impressive, beneficial and quality service. Thank you!"
Manjeet Edwards, Head of Grants and Community Development
Newham Council
"I was extremely happy with what was on offer [from The Healing Tent] and would like to say thank you to you and your team.... It wouldn't have been a success without you and we had over 400 residents who participated and enjoyed what was on offer. We've had excellent feedback from residents, Councillors and from the Active Community Team and I look forward to working with your team in the near future."

"I was so very, very impressed and delighted with the experience [massage session]. You have something very special going on there. My back really is feeling better this week, and just feel happier in my body generally - a huge achievement in one hour. The Healing Tent is here to stay!"

"For the first time in 2 years I can sit for 2 hours at a cinema
and enjoy a film without any pain at the end of my spine (coccyx)….
The pains are much better now and I feel very much better in
myself."

"This is my fourth visit to The Healing Tent and yet again the treatment,
calmness of the place and staff means that I’m leaving here feeling like
a new person! This has become a regular part of my anti-stress routine and I
can’t wait for my next visit."

"It’s so fantastic to have a place that offers massage,
healing and health advice in the heart of an inner city estate.
I live a very busy lifestyle but having the Healing Tent in the
heart of the estate I grew up in gives me a chance to spend some
time taking care of my body. The massages are fantastic, the staff
always helpful and I always leave very relaxed and satisfied”.
Barbara, aged
71 years
"I have been house bound for over 3 years after a hip replacement
operation and had cut myself off from everyone… after my last treatment (2nd treatment),
I walked all the way to Mare Street for the first time in 3 years, did my shopping
and walked back again! I feel great, pain has eased in my hip, back and legs.
I’m much better mentally and physically. It’s great.”
Alex, aged 30 years
I usually feel the stress and tension … in my neck and shoulder … and also my
sleep suffers from that. Since I’ve been coming to The Healing Tent, I have
to say that this ‘ache’ faded away and my general condition is improving.”
Roberta, aged 31
“The treatments make me feel good and better physically and psychologically.
The atmosphere in The Healing Tent is welcoming, friendly place where to relax
and have a chat is easy. There is more need of those places to link and help
our mind and body…”
Alice aged 67 years
“I found the treatment has helped my back no end and has made my body all over
more manageable. I found the masseurs very helpful and professional and all the
people connected to the Healing Tent. Since it started it has helped a lot of
people and I would like to see it continue: It must not be allowed to be taken
away.”
Gabrielle, aged 69 years
“I thought it was wonderful and felt really great afterwards and I think people
should have it done more often. After the massage I felt so good I said “I don’t
care what I look like, I feel great!” Pete
made me feel very relaxed and at ease.”
Woman, aged 34 years
“I really enjoyed my massage and felt completely relaxed. This massage has increased
my knowledge of my body circulation. I am very impressed. We really need this
in Hackney!"
Man, aged 66 years
"I am nearly 67 years of age and have come to the clinic for the first time
today. The treatment given to me is wonderful. It is so good that if I have
got the money I would not mind it for 2 – 3 times weekly. I am very well
received by the health care [staff] and they are very polite. "
Ann, aged 90 years
It’s lovely, really relaxing. I have had a cut on my foot and could not get
out for months, so having this massage has made a big difference to me. I hope
there is some way it can continue.

Christine, Evergreen Play Association
Just wanted to send along a letter of thanks from all of the staff, children and the parents and carers at Evergreen. The Purple Bus was a superb way to wrap up the summer and it contributed a positive, chilled out and celebratory vibe during our end of summer BBQ. The Purple Bus team members were incredibly kind and accommodating, ensuring that everyone who wanted a massage, smoothie or information was given the ample time that was needed. I personally enjoyed the massage I received (which was much needed!!!) after a particularly stressful and busy summer period!! The coordinator of the Purple Bus was wonderful to work with. All of us at Evergreen would be very happy to work with the Purple Bus again anytime!!
therapist’s comments
Anouk, Complementary therapist
“I have been working at the Healing Tent for the past few months. It has been such an amazing experience working with Pete Dixon! Not only have I learned more skills – but his enthusiasm is contagious! The hard work has produced a great place to work in and to receive caring, professional and healing services. Pete and the Healing Tent are an inspiration for any therapist who wants to make visions happen!”
Shantell, Massage therapist
“I appreciate being accepted as a volunteer because I can help people with aching bodies whilst at the same time learn about how to deal with different and complicated situations knowing that there are experienced therapists around to advise me on how to deal with them. I also like doing the events because I can introduce people who have never experienced massage into the benefits of it.”
Lisa, baby massage tutor and aromatherapist
“I love my work at the Healing Tent. It is most rewarding. I have seen such a difference in the people I have been treating. It makes me think that there should be more of these treatments available for people who need them but cannot afford them. I see many people who have reduced their intake of pain killers since having regular treatments, as they find that the pain killers just mask the pain temporarily rather than deal with it.”
Sonia, massage therapist
“I start(ed) to work as a qualified therapist at the volunteer day to achieve some more confidence in my abilities and learning how to deal with clients. It has been quite an intense experience – a lot of people, especially old people with really serious conditions come to us. It has been really a rich experience for me to see how much we could do … most of them infact showed great improvements and everyone seemed to really appreciate the great work and the genuine good intentions of looking after them and their needs. I learned personally a lot and my knowledge expanded even more through also an efficient and competent team of people who worked with me”.
Toni, massage therapist
“I find working as a volunteer for the healing tent very rewarding. I just simply love being able to give massages to people who really need them and … seeing the clients visibly change from frowning to smiling. … The benefits of massage are clearly visible when someone walks in with aches and pains and walks out with a big smile on their face”.
